Beyond Grant-making : Innovation and Growth of Patient Capital
Patient Capital does not expect high short-term returns, but rather focuses on the long-term value and returns of the business. In addition to social security funds and pension funds, patient capital has many other sources. Many philanthropic foundations have explored innovative finance models which intentionally generate positive social and environmental impacts alongside financial returns.
Grant-making is not the only way philanthropic foundations can pursue their social mission. What are the unique roles that patient capital can play in areas such as rural revitalization, climate change mitigation and adaptation, and biodiversity protection? What are the barriers that philanthropic foundations face when deploying approaches such as impact investing, social finance, and blended finances? What should be done to unlock the potential of patient capital?

Sustainable Investment and SMEs
China's sustainable finance market has already achieved a certain scale, but the supply of sustainable investment and financing for SMEs is still limited. This not only constrains the participation of a large number of SMEs in climate action, but also limits startups from providing technological innovation for sustainable development. What challenges do financial institutions face in providing sustainable investment and financing for SMEs? What innovative models are available? From the perspective of the enterprise life cycle, how should appropriate sustainable financial tools be provided for enterprises at different stages? What role can the policy sector play in broadening access to sustainable investment and financing for SMEs?

Is ESG a passport for companies to go global?
More and more Chinese companies and investors are going global. Internationalization is changing from “optional” to “required”. Although Chinese companies have a long history of going overseas, their internationalization model has encountered many bottlenecks in the current environment. Going global has entered a new stage, requiring more emphasis on environmental, social and governance (ESG) and impact, and on the need to go deep into local communities and establish long-term mutually beneficial relationships. High-quality and sustainability have become keywords for how to go overseas better. Why should companies pay attention to ESG and their impact? What experiences can draw from more advanced economies when operating in overseas markets? What opportunities can Chinese companies and investors seize in the field of sustainable development in emerging markets? What impact does global ESG regulations have on Chinese companies?

New Sustainability Reporting Regulations : Value Enhancement and Sustainable Development of Listed Companies
In June last year, the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) issued the first two sustainability disclosure guidelines, and in July, the European Union (EU) also issued the first 12 sustainability reporting guidelines. Under the guidance of the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC), the sustainability reporting guidelines for listed companies formulated by China's three stock exchanges also came into effect on May 1 this year. Sustainability and its disclosure at home and abroad have entered a new stage of historical development. How should listed companies in China promote corporate value enhancement and sustainable development in accordance with the new regulations? How can consulting and assurance organizations assist listed companies in this work? How can data integrators enhance ratings, indices, etc. according to the new regulations? How can institutional investors design appropriate products according to the new regulations and direct resources to companies with development potential? This session will bring together experts from the sustainability reporting value chain to discuss these questions.
